My Wealthy Husband Brought a Homeless Woman Into Our House and Said, “Tonight, You’re the One Taking Care of Her”—I Was Furious Until I Saw What Was Hidden Beneath Her Sleeve

“So I want you to help her.”

I actually laughed.

“You want me to what?”

“Help her shower. Wash her hair. Make sure she doesn’t fall.”

“We have a house manager. Call Pamela.”

“No.”

“Then call the overnight nurse who helped your mother after surgery.”

“No.”

“Daniel, have you lost your mind?”

His jaw tightened.

“No staff.”

The rain hammered against the tall windows.

Ruth lowered her eyes.

Daniel stepped closer to me and spoke quietly enough that she couldn’t hear.

“You spend half your life telling people how deeply you care about dignity. Tonight you can practice it without a microphone.”

That landed exactly where he intended.
