“She’s staying.”
The woman immediately shook her head.
“No, sir. I can leave.”
Her voice surprised me.
It was soft.
Educated, almost.
Daniel turned toward her.
“You’re not going back out in that storm.”
Then he looked at me.
“There’s something else.”
Of course there was.
“What?”
“She needs to get warm. I put clean clothes upstairs.”
I crossed my arms.
“So?”
