My Wealthy Husband Brought a Homeless Woman Into Our House and Said, “Tonight, You’re the One Taking Care of Her”—I Was Furious Until I Saw What Was Hidden Beneath Her Sleeve

I hated him for it.

Mostly because he was right.

CHAPTER ONE — THE WOMAN IN THE BLUE COAT

I led Ruth upstairs like someone escorting an unwanted delivery.

Our guest bathroom had pale stone walls, a soaking tub, heated towels, and enough expensive bath products to stock a small boutique.

I opened a cabinet.

“You can put your clothes in this bag.”

Ruth touched the sleeve of her coat.

“I’d rather keep the coat.”

“It’s soaked.”

“I’ve had it a long time.”

“That doesn’t make it clean.”
