My Husband Teased Me in Front of His Friends After a Difficult Childbirth – Then His Oldest Friend Stood Up and Did Something Nobody in That Room Expected

Two daughters.

Worked as a physical therapist.

That last detail mattered more than I realized.

I spent the afternoon preparing food.

Not because Richard demanded it.

Because I wanted the house to feel nice.

Chili.

Chips.

Salsa.

Chicken wings.

Beer in the refrigerator.

Soda.

I cleaned the living room.

Moved toys.

Fed the babies.

Changed three diapers.

Put Grace down for a nap.

Then Noah woke her.

I started over.

By the time the game started, I was exhausted.

Richard barely noticed.

His friends arrived around six.

The living room filled with noise.

Football.

Laughter.

Beer bottles.

I carried food back and forth.

At one point, David offered to help.

“You need a hand?”

“I’m fine.”

“You sure?”

“Yes.”

He looked skeptical.

Then picked up two empty bowls anyway.

That was David.

He helped quietly.

No announcement.

No applause.

Later, the babies finally settled upstairs.

I returned to collect plates.

That was when I heard the laughter.

Not normal laughter.

The uncomfortable kind.

Sharp.

Uneven.

I stepped into the living room.

Richard stood beside the television.

Something white and blue was in his hand.

My stomach dropped immediately.

The package.

My package.
