Before we reached the altar, my three-year-old grandson squeezed my hand and whispered, “Grandpa, she was mean to Mommy.” Then he pointed toward my future wife and pulled a USB drive from his tiny pocket—one that would soon reveal the truth she had been hiding.

Gabriel reviewed copies while police handled the originals.

He recognized the forged documents immediately.

“This signature is wrong.”

“Yes.”

“This one too.”

“Yes.”

He looked at me.

“Did you give Monica any authority?”

“No.”

“Any power of attorney?”

“No.”

“Any corporate proxy?”

“No.”

His jaw tightened.

“Then we have a serious problem.”

Detective Salcedo said.

“We also have an alleged assault.”

“And possible poisoning.”

Gabriel looked at me.

“What poisoning?”

I explained.

He sat down.

“Wedding canceled?”

“Obviously.”

Good.
