Study identifies possible connection to autism development

inherited a pro-inflammatory gut microbiota, developed autism-like behaviors. This suggests that the maternal gut microbiota, by modifying the   infant ‘s immune system   , could influence brain development. This hypothesis is still in the exploratory phase, but it sheds new light on mechanisms that have long remained unknown.

And what about humans? Caution and hope

Caution: Do not jump to conclusions. This study was conducted exclusively on animals, and it would be risky to draw definitive conclusions for humans. However, it lays a solid foundation for future research. As lead researcher John Lukens points out, the goal now is to pinpoint which characteristics of the gut microbiota in     pregnant women might be linked to an increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders. The  aim   ? To find simple and safe ways to maintain optimal gut  health during      pregnancy   without disrupting the immune system, which is particularly vulnerable during this period.
