My Husband Forced Our 18-Year-Old Daughter to Leave While I Was Away — One Year Later, She Returned Carrying a Newborn

Not wisely.

Not carefully.

She was eighteen.

Angry.

Hurt.

She said,

“I know about Rachel.”

Kevin’s face changed.

He asked what she knew.

Sarah showed him one photograph.

He grabbed her phone.

She screamed.

He demanded the password.

She refused.

Then he said,

“You have no idea what you’re interfering with.”

Sarah told him she was calling me.

That was when everything changed.

Kevin blocked the doorway.

He said,

“You will not destroy this family over something you don’t understand.”

Sarah laughed.

“You already did.”

He slapped the phone from her hand.

Not her.

The phone.

It hit the wall.

Then he told her to pack.

She refused.

He packed for her.

Clothes.

Backpack.

Shoes.

He told her,

“You’re eighteen.”

“You want to act like an adult?”

“Go be one.”

Sarah stared at me.

“He gave me two hundred dollars.”

I covered my mouth.

“He told me if I called you, he would say I stole money from him.”

My stomach turned.

“What money?”

“Cash from his office.”

“He said he’d report me.”

“Did you?”

“No.”

“Of course not.”

“I know.”

“But I was scared.”
