Margaret gave a small laugh.
“That says a lot about you.”
I turned toward her.
“I agree.”
Adrian stood.
“Do you know how humiliating this is?”
“For whom?”
“For me.”
That surprised me.
“Why is your mother’s business loan humiliating for you?”
He said nothing.
The silence lasted half a second too long.
