After I Broke My Leg, My Husband Refused to Drive Our Kids to School Because He ‘Couldn’t Be Late for Work’ – Then I Caught Him Picking up His Young, Pretty Coworker, so I Taught Him a Lesson

Beside him was a stick figure with long black hair.

Underneath, Sasha had written:

Takes Miss Adele to work because her car is broken.

Then, in Nicki’s enormous block letters:

OUR SCHOOL IS TOO FAR.

I stopped smiling.

Apparently, our daughters had heard more than we realized.

Harold was upstairs getting ready.

I looked at the poster.

Then toward the hallway.

I didn’t change a single word.

Didn’t add anything.

Didn’t explain anything.

When the girls went upstairs to brush their teeth, I folded the poster with the drawings hidden inside.

Then I hobbled outside.

Harold’s car was unlocked.

I placed the folded poster on the passenger seat.

One small surprise.

That was all.

An hour later, my phone rang.

Harold.

“Scarlett, what did you do?”

I moved the phone away from my ear.

“Good morning.”

“Adele saw it!”

“Saw what?”
