After I Broke My Leg, My Husband Refused to Drive Our Kids to School Because He ‘Couldn’t Be Late for Work’ – Then I Caught Him Picking up His Young, Pretty Coworker, so I Taught Him a Lesson

He nodded.

There were no flowers.

No dramatic apology posted online.

No expensive jewelry.

That actually helped.

Because what I needed wasn’t another grand gesture.

I needed a partner.

Over the following week, Harold handled the mornings.

Not perfectly.

Once Nicki went to school wearing two different socks.

Sasha forgot a worksheet.

Harold accidentally bought orange juice with pulp, which apparently constituted a major family emergency.

But he figured it out.

More importantly, he stopped asking me to figure it out for him.

One Friday morning, Sasha found her original school project underneath a stack of papers.

“My poster!”

She unfolded it across the breakfast table.

Harold saw the blue car.

Then Adele.

Then the words:

OUR SCHOOL IS TOO FAR.

He groaned.

“Please tell me that’s not the version you’re turning in.”

Sasha grabbed a marker.

“I have to update it.”

Under DAD, she added:

Takes us to school.

Nicki leaned across the table.

“Give me the marker.”
